Over the summer, Dr Olive McCarthy of the Centre for Co-operative Studies at Cork University Business School (and CFCFE’s Advisory Board) has been talking to credit union CEOs, managers and other stakeholders to understand perceptions of the opportunities and challenges for measuring and reporting on social impact – what CFCFE calls ‘the credit union difference’. Olive’s paper presenting this research will be released next week.

CFCFE is hosting an interactive online seminar on 25th November 2020 to hear directly from Olive about her findings, to get an introduction to the work that CFCFE is doing to enable credit unions in this area and to participate in group discussions about how the movement can take advantage of robust evaluation of its member and community impact.

There is considerable interest around the movement in this topic, so we are extending the invitation beyond the CFCFE membership. The event will be from 10.00am-12.00pm and the agenda is as follows (subject to change):

10.00 Introduction from Dr Paul A Jones
10.05 Summary of the research by Dr Olive McCarthy
10.25 Breakout groups to discuss perceptions
10.50 Plenary Q&A, facilitated by Dr Paul A. Jones
11.05 Introduction to CFCFE’s emerging method by Nick Money
11.20 Breakout groups to discuss implementation
11.45 Plenary Q&A

The seminar will be hosted on Zoom and attendance is free. Please register here: https://bit.ly/3ox7Y46 by cop 20th November. Contact nick.money@swobodacentre.org if any queries.
