CFCFE is working on a refresh of the highly impactful report Credit Union Strategic Governance, written by CFCFE’s directors under the banner of Liverpool John Moores University in 2017. Many credit unions in Great Britain have adopted some or all of the principles and practice put forward in the ‘manual’ as we call it, which includes a toolkit of templates and useful materials which can be accessed here. The prime objective of the refresh is to make it shorter and more user-friendly, but there will also be updates to the advice that is offered. If you have used the document, please let us know any areas where you think we can improve the guidance provided. Contact Nick Money at nick.money@swobodacentre.org.
And it’s two years to the day that we reported on a fantastic training week on governance with Romanian credit unions – casas de ajutor reciproc (CARs) https://swobodacentre.org/centre-links-with-romania-and-italy/. This was a part of an Erasmus+ funded project, and a key output was a version of the governance manual for a Romanian CAR audience. The relationships built between British and Romanian credit unions were possibly an even bigger success!
