Effective leadership is critical to the success of credit unions – not sufficient on its own, but it is very difficult to be a high-performing organisation without it. CFCFE has commissioned Lucy Harr, a hugely experienced credit unionist and writer from the US, to write about the characteristics of effective chief executive officers and top managers.

Lucy’s paper will draw on the North American experience, but also interviews with credit union and other leaders in Ireland and the UK. It will provide practical information and examples of how highly effective CEOs enable their boards of directors to achieve their objectives for member service and financial performance. This includes best practice on communicating with and providing strategic and operational guidance and perspective to volunteer directors, with specific attention to the CEO’s relationship with the board chair.

This paper will be available in the summer. If you are not a CFCFE member, go to our Home page to subscribe to our mailings and get notified.
