Swoboda Research Centre convened its biggest conference yet on 24th November 2023 in Manchester. 115 delegates attended to debate the big issues of the future impact of digitalisation on the development of credit unions in GB and Ireland.
The morning sessions saw Professor Karen Elliott and Dr Leda Glyptis present challenging reviews of the landscape for credit unions, followed by an expert panel where Karen was joined by Assistant Professor Andrea Lagna and consultant Paul Rooney to discuss the issues raised with the audience, such as the personal touch vs (or with?) digital, risks arising from AI and how credit unions can demand more from their suppliers.
In the afternoon the conference sought to apply the discussion to live business strategy, with a panel of CEOs (James Berry, Great Western CU; Teresa Manning MBE, Clockwise CU; Séan Murray, Comhar Linn INTO CU and Paul Norgrove, Serve & Protect CU), followed by the international insights and observations of strategist George Hofheimer.
Swoboda is really grateful to all the contributors, and to the delegates for bringing ideas and enthusiasm. A report on the conference, the presentations and videos of the sessions can be viewed and downloaded here:
