Following our post earlier in the week, we are looking for more examples of how credit unions are demonstrating their ‘difference’ in how they are responding to the COVID-19 crisis, whether in how they support their their members, their communities or their staff. In addition to showing forbearance, is the pervasive feature of credit unions responses – supporting members at a critical difficult time. Further examples from CFCFE member credit unions include:
- Bristol Credit Union has introduced interest-free loans for NHS staff https://www.bristolcreditunion.org/interest-free-nhs-loans
- Dundalk Credit Union has repurposed its recently announced Community Support Fund 2020 as a COVID-19 Community Response Fund, together with Cuchullain Credit Union, to offer financial assistance to those organisations and groups within our wider community that are putting the needs of others ahead of their own in response to the impact of COVID-19 https://www.dundalkcu.ie/news_events/joint-covid-19-community-response-fund-launched-by-dundalk-and-cuchullain-credit-unions/.
Let us know about other examples that we can share to show the ‘credit union difference’.
